Partners
The STREAMin³ curriculum model has been made possible through multiple partnerships between the following organizations.
Virginia Department of Education (VDOE)
Through support and funding from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), STREAMin³ is currently available as a curriculum option for publicly funded birth-to-five programs participating in Virginia Quality Birth to Five in Virginia. In 2022, STREAMin³ was selected by the VDOE through a competitive process.
The partnership aims to:
- Provide access to a low-to-no cost, comprehensive birth-through-preschool curriculum.
- Deliver free professional development (PD) to help programs adopt and use the curriculum.
- Develop sustainable resources so programs can use the curriculum and professional development resources beyond the initial rollout years at low-to-no cost.
Center for the Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL)
The Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) at the University of Virginia’s School of Education and Human Development is an interdisciplinary center that provides leadership on effective teaching and learning through scientific study in educational settings from infancy to higher education. STREAMin³ has been developed by a CASTL team of early childhood education researchers and specialists.
Elevate Early Education
Elevate Early Education E3 asked CASTL to develop the STREAMin³ curriculum model for use within the New E3 School – a model demonstration school for children ages one to five. E3 sought a comprehensive, integrated curriculum and professional development package that would showcase what high-quality instruction looked like and could be replicated and scaled across early childhood education programs. In 2018, E3’s successful advocacy has led to the STREAMin³ model being piloted in private and public ECE programs within Virginia.
The New E3 School
The New E3 School is a state-of-the-art demonstration school for children ages one to five. E3 asked UVA to develop the STREAMin³ model for use in The New E3 School with the intent to replicate and scale. STREAMin³ was developed in collaboration with teachers and leaders at The New E3 School. Learn more about The New E3 School and see the STREAMin³ curriculum in action.
Virginia Department of Social Services
In 2018, state funding from the Virginia Department of Social Services allowed for the STREAMin³ curriculum package to be piloted in 50 private and faith-based early childhood classrooms (birth to preschool) in Virginia.
Obici Healthcare Foundation
To complement the state’s investment, the Obici Healthcare Foundation provided additional support to pilot the STREAMin³ curriculum model in an additional 50 state or federally funded classrooms in Western Tidewater.
The Alleghany Foundation
To complement the state’s investment, the Alleghany Foundation provided additional support to pilot the STREAMin³ curriculum package in an additional 17 state funded classrooms in the Alleghany Highlands.
Ready Kids
ReadyKids provides the Charlottesville area with counseling, family support, and early learning experiences to ensure children are ready for life. ReadyKids provided support in recruitment and an early learning specialist with expertise in curriculum to serve as a STREAMin³ coach to one of the programs for the full length of the pilot.
Participating Virginia Pilot Programs
In the 2019-2021 school years, birth-five classrooms all over Virginia implemented the STREAMin³ curriculum model. Development of STREAMin³ has been supported by schools and programs across the state, who volunteered to pilot the model and share feedback to guide wider use of the curriculum and professional development supports.
